PHOENIXVILLE, PA – March 13, 2023

Brian Regli, Executive Director, Governor’s Office of Critical Investments, paid a visit to PXVNEO, North America’s first hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) plant. He was joined by David Wade, Chief of Staff to the Chief Transformation Officer, Louie Krak, Coordinator for Infrastructure Implementation at the Department of Environmental Protection, and Heather Cowley, Energy Program Specialist, Department of Environmental Protection Southeast Regional Office.

Borough Council President, Jon Ewald said, “It is not lost on myself, the rest of Borough Council or Staff, that in a weeks’ time we were directly named as a community success story in the Governor’s Budget Speech and then had the ability to showcase the PXVNEO project to the top brass of the Governor’s executive team. It does feel like we are on the precipice of something important.”

PXVNEO Govern's Office Visit

…in a weeks' time we were directly named as a community success story in the Governor’s Budget Speech and then had the ability to showcase the PXVNEO project to the top brass of the Governor's executive team.

The tour began with a visit to the existing wastewater treatment facility, which utilizes the industry-standard anaerobic digestion to break down organic matter. The group then made their way over to PXVNEO, where they were shown the cutting-edge technology which transforms the existing weeks-long process to one that takes several hours, while at the same time reducing the environmental impact and creating a potential energy source.

Ewald went on to say that he is “proud of the steps this community is taking to transform our infrastructure to ensure sustainability and continue the trend as a regional leader in implementing policies and technology that improves our sustainability. PXVNEO is just one of the approaches our Borough Council and Staff, and community as a whole are employing to take measurable steps towards reducing our carbon footprint, and improving sustainable practices.”
